Abigail mouse and mustard crib

Abigail mouse and pastel crib. Beautifully handcrafted toys for the mouse house.

The crib is wooden, made in a small carpentry workshop. It has rounded edges and resembles the shape of the old toys my grandmother used to play with. I, meaning Zuza, am responsible for the color. I use products from Autentico. These are excellent quality chalk paints that are odorless and water-based. I apply multiple coats of paint and sand with very fine paper to even out the surface and create a burnished and slightly aged effect. The final step is to apply wax and lightly polish. All my work is slow and thorough and it makes the furniture extremely smooth and velvety to the touch. The crib has a mustard color. The set includes bedding sewn by grandmother Henia and a blanket cut from steamed wool. The mattress, quilt and pillow are sewn from beautiful Liberty of London cotton in small flowers. In the crib sleeps a mouse sewn by Alice. All made of linen, the eyes, nose, face and whiskers are embroidered. Tail made of string. Mouse sewn by hand, with great precision and wonderful attention to every last detail. She is dressed in a brown floral dress that fastens at the back with two snaps. The garment is removable.
